The famous jewelry manufacturer "Perli" from Schwäbisch Gmünd was founded in 1922/23 by Martha May. Martha May studied at the jewelry college in Schwäbisch Gmünd and taught at the famous art college at Burg Giebichenstein near Halle in 1935-36. Her designs, in which she also liked to include other materials such as wood, glass beads, felt or enamel, brought the company a silver medal at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937. The excellent design is still appreciated by jewelry lovers and collectors to this day.

Magnificent brooch with opals from the period of modernism. Solid silver brooch with a rough surface, decorated with prong setting opals. Marked, manufactured in the famous German jewelry manufacturer Perli in Schwäbisch Gmünd, 1960s.
