The famous jewelry manufacturer "Perli" from Schwäbisch Gmünd was founded in 1922/23 by Martha May. Martha May studied at the jewelry college in Schwäbisch Gmünd and taught at the famous art college at Burg Giebichenstein near Halle in 1935-36. Her designs, in which she also liked to include other materials such as wood, glass beads, felt or enamel, brought the company a silver medal at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937. The excellent design is still appreciated by jewelry lovers and collectors to this day.
