Various brands were used at WMF during its 150-year production. The well-known "ostrich brand" comes from the German word for ostrich "Der Strauss" after Daniel Straub, one of the founders. The G in the brand stands for the city of Geislingen an der Fils and near Ulm in Baden-Württemberg.The designers included Hans Peter, Albert Meyer, Hermann Obrist, Albin Müller and Peter Behrens.
Large and splendid Art Nouveau cookie jar or bonboniere with removable glass insert, which was also etched and ground. Rectangular shape on tray. Geometric shapes alternate with abstract floral decor. Ostrich brand around 1905. No chips, excellent condition, worth collecting!
