Art Nouveau Scarab Brooch in 950/- Silver and Enamel
In the 19th century, discoveries of ancient archaeological finds influenced what is called "archaeological revival jewellery" or "Egyptian revival jewellery". The initial Egyptian Revival flourished from the 1820s and was inspired by ancient Egyptian symbols such as the scarab beetle, sphinxes, pharaohs and hieroglyphics.
Beautiful winged scarab brooch modelled on the Egyptian god Khnum, made in Art Nouveau around 1900. The brooch was made in silver and set with different coloured pit enamel ( bass waist) in blue-green and dark red tones. The manufacture is unknown, but can be attributed to Meyle & Mayer in Pforzheim. Excellent condition, museum and collectible!
