This silver spoon is a real rarity! This is a sacral item in connection with the Baptism. The exact use of it should be known by the members of this church. The wide, flat shallow bowl is decorated with engraved motifs: a woman with two children on her arms and a king holding a battleaxt, standing over a monster. Around these motifs are letterings. The pillar style handle has a relief ribbon with lettering wrapped around it. The end of the handle is decorated with a conical element. The original of this spoon is an early 16th century Scandinavian spoon, which is now in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. This spoon is a perfect replica of it, made by Peter Hertz from Copenhagen/Denmark. The firm Peter Hertz ist the oldest jeweller firm in Denmark. It was founded in 1834 and became soon a Royal Court Jeweller. The mark can be dated into 1893-1912. Condition very good!
