A typical characteristic of the so-called Martelé - the surface created by the driving hammer - are the impact marks, which are not worked away but left as a decorative element. This technique was popular in the Art Deco period between the world wars, but was taken up again and again in the later 20th century.

Exceptional solid silver juice or wine carafe from France. Wrought silver with hammer marks, pear-shaped body and inset hinged lid with decorative knob. Beaked spout on curved rim. S - shaped, elegant handle. Smooth stand ring. Marked with the Minerva mark for silver 925/- from 1973 - 1982 and unknown Paris maker's mark S MB C. Condition excellent, unique, collectible!
