The S.M.S. Preussen was a Braunschweig-class liner of the former Imperial Navy. It was named after the Kingdom of Prussia, the largest constituent state of the German Empire at the time (Wikipedia).
On the occasion of the visit of Kaiser Wilhelm II in 1912, the "Preußen" received her new top flag. On board, apart from the high officers of the Imperial Navy, were only invited guests of the high nobility. The event was duly celebrated.
For this occasion, the cocktail cups were commissioned by the gold and silver workshop of Otto Breede in Kiel and produced by the silver manufacturer Koch & Bergfeld in Bremen and decorated with the new top flag in artistic enamel for the S.M.S. Preussen. One of the mugs was additionally engraved: "S.M.S. Preussen 1912".
The cups were professionally refurbished and polished in our workshop. Nevertheless, we always attach importance to an age-appropriate patina. Condition excellent! Absolutely museum and collectible.
