Antique 925 silver carafe with bacchante relief, FMT/Topazio, early 20th century
Myth, master craftsmanship and silver lustre - a carafe as a tribute to the enjoyment of wine
This extraordinary antique carafe made of solid 925 silver is a true showpiece of silver table culture. Made in the first half of the 20th century, it combines artistic sophistication with mythologically inspired design - an object that fascinates, decorates and tells a story.
The bulbous base with a classic beaded rim supports a cylindrical wall divided by delicate diamond motifs. Above this, a magnificent relief decoration unfolds with vines and lively Bacchantes and putti dancing, making music and celebrating - an opulent scene in honour of the god of wine, Bacchus, who completes the ensemble as a finely crafted head below the spout.
The curved handle is particularly impressive, skilfully shaped like a vine with filigree leaf and grape decorations. The slightly domed hinged lid is crowned by a lion with an unmarked shield - a powerful symbol of strength and protection. The lid pusher is elegantly integrated and functional at the same time.
The carafe bears the FMT/Topazio maker's mark and the 925 silver hallmark. With a capacity of 1.25 litres, it is suitable as an exclusive showpiece, a prestigious silverware item or a valuable collector's item.
A masterpiece of silversmith craftsmanship - an expression of myth, pleasure and timeless beauty.
