Unique jewel of bygone times: Antique milk jug made of 925/- sterling silver
Enter the fascinating world of antique works of art and be enchanted by this exquisite milk jug made of 925/- sterling silver. With every touch, you will feel the weight of the precious metal and experience a journey back to an era when every piece of craftsmanship told a story.
The slightly conical body rests on a profiled foot whose stepped design draws the eye to the magnificent milk jug. But it is the fine details that make this work of art a true masterpiece: The elegant rocaille handle with its curled ends not only promises a secure hold, but also conveys the splendour and elegance of times gone by.
The inside of the jug holds another secret: it is gold-plated! A golden glow that sparkles with every movement and majestically complements the silver exterior. The whole thing is surrounded by a surrounding ornamental engraving that shows both the mighty god Zeus and the coat of arms of the English noble family of the Cripps. On closer inspection, it becomes clear that this could be Charles Alfred Cripps, 1st Baron Parmoor - a noble family that has a firm place in the history of England.
But what would a work of art be without its creator? This milk jug was made by R & S Garrard & Co, with Robert Garrard II leaving his distinctive signature. It is worth noting that Garrard was the first official Crown Jeweller from 1843 to 2007 and had the privilege of caring for the British Crown Jewels. Every cut, every engraving, every detail of this milk jug is a testament to the skill and artistry of this house.
Made in London in 1859, this creamer carries with it not only the history of its makers, but also that of the people for whom it was made. For those wishing to further their knowledge, "Fairbairn's Book of Crests" and "Royal Goldsmiths The Garrard Heritage" are recommended reading.
