Imagine a time when every piece of jewellery was made by hand, in an era when craftsmanship and attention to detail were paramount. From this era comes our unique vintage brooch in 800/- silver, which makes its journey to us from the mid-20th century.
The cross-oval centrepiece of this impressive brooch is adorned with an onyx cabochon whose deep black colour magically attracts the eye. It is not only the onyx that captivates the beholder; it is also the filigree ornaments that frame it. Half eyelets and diamonds made of the finest silver wire dance in a festive round dance around the dark stone and give the piece of jewellery its playful yet noble flair.
Another eye-catcher are the five gracefully hanging individual chains. Double-braided and refined with silver and onyx ball bearings, they swing with every movement and reflect the light in an enchanting way. The linking element of these chains features niello inlays that are highlighted by blackened silver and add depth and character to the brooch.
If you turn the brooch over, you will notice that it is also brooched on the back and has maker's marks, which are unfortunately illegible but certainly steeped in history. On closer inspection, you can guess that this is probably a coveted piece of Native American jewellery from North America.
The brooch is not only a true gem for collectors of vintage jewellery, but also appeals to lovers of ethnic jewellery. A combination of elegance, mysticism and history that offers you the opportunity to wear a piece of times gone by and take the stories it has to tell with you into the present. A masterpiece that captures the essence of its time and seems as timeless today as it did then.
