Beautiful serving cutlery in 800/- silver. This exquisitely crafted set, consisting of a serving spoon for vegetables and a ladle, perfectly captures the simple, modernist design that was typical of the Bauhaus period of the 1930s.
The serving cutlery bears the distinctive mark of Franz Bahner, one of the most renowned manufacturers of Art Nouveau cutlery. Since the company was founded in 1895 in Düsseldorf (Germany), the name Bahner has stood for the highest quality and excellent craftsmanship. After the death of Franz Bahner in 1913, the manufactory was transformed into a joint-stock company by his heirs until it was finally acquired by the Mansfelder Gewerkschaft in 1917.
The Mansfelder Gewerkschaft, as the new owner, left its own minting mark by changing the maker's mark to two crossed hammers with the letters "M" and "S" (for Mansfelder Silber). This change is testimony to the continuing tradition and heritage associated with the serving cutlery.
The serving cutlery is in remarkably good condition, reflecting its exceptional quality and the care taken in its storage over the years. Each piece has been crafted with attention to detail, focusing on the clean lines and simple aesthetic of the modernist design.
Whether you choose to use this serving set for special occasions or as a collectible, it is sure to add a classy touch to your table arrangement.
