Mappin & Webb stands for over 200 years of tradition in silver and goldsmithing. The history of the company began in 1775 in Sheffield, where Jonathan Mappin opened his silver workshop. Well-known clients included Marie Antoinette, Charles Dickens, and the last Tsar of Russia Nicholas II.
Soup tureens have their origins in the 18th century and have become indispensable in tableware ever since. Also this beautiful soup tureen comes from the house of Mappin & Webb. It has a conical, slightly stepped foot and a hemispherical body. Production around 1920.
