Early pieces of Art Nouveau jewellery from around 1890/1900 are still characterised by their timidity. Slightly curved forms, already stylised but still strongly symmetrical. Delicate harbingers of a style that was to radically lead the art of the 19th century into modernity.
Pretty brooch with curved form handcrafted. Abstract, curved tendrils or leaves hold a faceted ruby drop in a frame setting in the centre. Backside with a simple pin clasp. Made around 1900, probably Pforzheim.
