Art nouveau brooch in 935/- silver with lapis lazuli and pearls
Karl Karst's factory for gold and silver jewellery was one of the best known in Pforzheim. Karst was not only a producer; he also designed his jewellery himself. His creations from the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods are captivating not only because of their excellent design, but also because of the outstanding craftsmanship.
Absolutely rare brooch from the Art Nouveau period by Karl Karst. Rectangular shape with bevelled corners and reed design, set with lapis lazuli and pearls. The wonderful openwork design of the brooch is inspired by the Austrian Secession school of the Wiener Werkstätte. Back with brooch. Marked, made by Karl Karst in Pforzheim circa 1910/15. Excellent condition, with natural patina. Collectible!
