Antique gemstone jewellery

Antique gemstone jewellery often combined the classic triad of ruby, emerald and sapphire, whose popularity remained consistently high throughout the ages. In contrast, the preference for other coloured stones fluctuated. Around 1830, the trend for turquoise, which adorned rings, pendants and necklaces, began in Great Britain. Their bright blue colour symbolised the fashionable spirit of the time.
