Vintage hammered jug with plate in 800/- silver
A typical characteristic of the so-called Martelé - the surface created by the driving hammer - are the impact marks, which are not worked away but left as a decorative element. This technique was popular in the Art Deco period between the world wars, but was taken up again and again in the later 20th century.
Wine or water jug made of 800/- silver. Flat, slightly rising foot and round, bulbous body with flared mouth. Chased in 6 passages, overhanging band handle with thumb rest. Comes with original multi-pass plate. Marked. Handmade in Padua/Italy around 1950 by F.LLI Bruno E Cesare Zaramella. Condition very good with few traces of use!
