Bangle in 250/- gold with garnet setting
Standard gold or standard metal is a gold alloy with a gold content of less than 8 carats, or less than 333/- thousandths parts. The remaining part of the alloy consists of silver and copper. Norm gold was used around 1900 for the inexpensive production of garnet jewellery. Especially bangles and bracelets, but also necklaces, earrings and rings were made of it.
Art nouveau bangle in 250/- gold (standard gold) and garnet. Of oval form with hinge and plug-in clasp with safety eyelet, set with 22 garnet navettes and 10 small round cut stones in dimple settings. Condition very good!
