Pill boxes have been made for centuries as a supply of pills or small medications. Usual are small cans in square and round shape. In the 17th and 18th centuries, they were mainly produced in sheet metal or wood. From the 19th century, there are also exhibits of silver and gold.
This extravagant pill box is the image of a walnut in 835 / silver, which has a fire gilding inside. The adjustment of the wall cavity thus offers space for slightly larger tablets. Handmade, manufactured around 1880. Master's mark unknown.
