Tombak is a high-copper brass alloy with a minimum of 72% copper and a maximum of 28% zinc. The higher the zinc content, the harder the alloys become. Their colour also becomes lighter and shifts from red to golden yellow to light yellow to silver. If tombac occurs in its silver variant, it is also called "white tombac" or "nickel silver".
Rare brooch in the form of three stars of different sizes placed on top of each other from the Art Nouveau period around 1900. Deep red Bohemian garnet stones of different sizes and cuts were painstakingly mounted in the stars in knob settings by hand. Production unknown, probably Bohemia around 1900.
