Pair of very pretty Empire saliers in silver and fancy sphinx depictions. Three-part base held by mystical depictions of the Egyptian sphinx, round heavily pierced body and finely chiselled acanthus relief. Inside cut transparent vessels of crystal glass. Unknown goldsmith's hallmark and Paris guarantee hallmark for silver 950/-, 1798 - 1809. Very good condition with age-related patina. No chips on the glass! Museum and collectible.
