Necklace with garnet stones in 250/- standard gold
Standard gold or standard metal is a gold alloy with a gold content of less than 8 carats, or less than 333/- thousandths parts. The remaining part of the alloy consists of silver and copper. Norm gold was used around 1900 for the inexpensive production of garnet jewellery. Especially bangles and bracelets, but also necklaces, earrings and rings were made of it.
Charming and very elegant necklace with Bohemian garnet stones in standard gold. The deep red stones were combined to big and small flowers and mounted together in the course. Spring ring clasp. Early 20th century. Excellent condition!
