Antique brooch with garnet stones, in gold doublé
The ear of corn is a classic decorative motif of the 19th century, which could be worn not only in the country, but also in the city for Thanksgiving Day or on other occasions. If an autumn impression was desired, or a garden party was given, this was the "eye-catcher"! It was mostly set with deep red Bohemian garnets but also with diamonds.
Beautiful antique ear of corn brooch. Slightly curved shape, decorated with a pretty bow at one end. The entire surface is set with faceted, red Bohemian garnet stones in various shapes and sizes. Back with security brochure. Around 1850.
