Vintage 925/- silver bangle
The bangle is an arm jewellery, usually ring- or half-ring-shaped and made of hard materials. Limestone, bone, marble, slate, serpentine or clay were used as early as the Stone Age; later, various base and precious metals were used. In Europe - in contrast to antiquity - bangles and bracelets were worn almost exclusively by women from the Middle Ages until the advent of the modern wristwatch at the end of the 19th century, especially during the Renaissance and the 19th century, depending on fashion.
Beautiful handcrafted bangle for a lady. Two-part shape with hinge, curved bar with clasp and safety catch. Surface decorated with engraved arched elements, partially textured surface. Marked with the mark of an unknown silversmith, Germany, circa 1960.
