Antique Tea Core in 958/- Silver from Portugal
A rare antique tea set in solid silver from Portugal for great tea enjoyment. Consisting of a teapot with a volume of 2 litres, a cream jug and a sugar bowl, each with lid. Strong oval corpi with bulbous beginnings and tapering necks. Vessels resting on four curved paw feet with shell-shaped bases. Elaborate floral decoration and ribbed bosses. Curved decorated spout on the jug and flared spout on the cream jug. Sugar bowl and cream jug with curved handles decorated with stylised leaf decoration. Hinged lids on the teapots and plug-in lids on the sugar bowl, decorated with high, profiled knobs. On the teapot an ear-shaped handle in rosewood. Hallmarked with marks for Porto/Portugal 1843 - 1853 for silver 958/1000 and tremolo mark. Master's mark unknown. Excellent condition - little used with minimal signs of age and wear.
