Saliere: A precious vessel for a precious content - salt. A basic spice, which, however, was only found on a few tables in the past centuries and was therefore used sparingly: wrapped in precious metals, served with small spoons, enjoyed on special occasions.
A set of 2 Salars (salt bowls) in sterling silver from England. Oval shape on four tongue-shaped feet. Body decorated with rich relief of rocailles and profilings with motifs of the Neorenessance. Inside, a removable insert made of original blue glass without damage. Marked, Birmingham 1914
