Beautiful medalion with an antique motif! Oval shape with faceted side walls. In the centre matt cut antique intaglio motif: probably a goddess and a putto resp. bacchant. Wonderful violet glass color. Bezel setting with chain eye, incl. long chain. Mounting marked, made in Germany. The medalion was originally a salt bowl, made by the firm Heinrich Hoffmann in Gablonz, about 1920, patented intaglio technique. Such salt bowls were made in different shapes, colors and with different motifs; they were usually standing on the tables in rich decorated metal moutings.
