Wonderful soup tureen with a rich ornate. Curved contour and gorgeous relief decor in form of rocailles and acanthus leaves on foots, side handles, lid handle and lid rim. The relief decor creates a beautiful contrast to the smooth polished wall surface. Probably double walls. On the bottom a big hallmark cartouche: made by the firm James Shaw & Fisher in Sheffield/England, which started patented electroplating in 1849. Dating: 1849-1894.
