Gorgeous painted figure from the set "5 continents", showing the continent Africa. The smiling, barefooted figure is standing on a round base. She is wearing a feather skirt, which is hold by two golden belts. Over the shoulder she has a red, weaving cape, with a big golden closure on the brest. Her head is covered by an elephant head, in the right hand she is holding a sceptre, her left hand is resting on a bundle of straw, hanging from one of the belts. Made, hand painted and hand gilded in the porcelain manufactory Sitzendorf in Thuringia/Germany, marked. Late 19th century. Condition very good.
