The term Art Deco quickly became established, particularly in the art and antiques trade, and referred to a style that was mainly characterised in the 1920s and 1930s and stood out from the preceding styles, especially Art Nouveau. Objects in this style were characterised above all by their design elements and abstract decoration, which were accompanied by the use of high-quality or even new and therefore exotic materials. Magnificent Art Deco brooch. Geometric shape, rectangular, with strongly cut corners. Closed and openwork surfaces, partially covered with dark blue enamel and small marcasites.
