In many fairy tales, the swan is considered the friend and saviour of children, sometimes changing its shape from an ugly duckling to noble. Already in the Middle Ages, mystical abilities were suggested to the swan in its white plumage.

Wonderfully realistic design of a children's rattle depicting a swan in solid silver with mother-of-pearl handle. A welcome gift for the birth or christening of a new citizen. Excellent condition!
