At a time when the flickering of candles echoed stories of the past, a magnificent masterpiece was created that still attracts attention today. The antique candlestick described here, a piece of jewellery of almost mythical elegance, was made in 1891 by the renowned Harrison Brothers & Howson in Sheffield. A truly unique piece made from solid 925 sterling silver, its form and function reflect the essence of Victorian craftsmanship.
With gigantic dimensions of 50 cm in height and a width of 37 cm, this chandelier stands majestically on any festively laid table. Its total weight of around 3.6 kg not only gives it an impressive presence, but also unrivalled stability. The base of the chandelier is square and rises in several steps, an architecture that suggests strength and durability. The shaft is angular and conical, with multiple mouldings that emphasise its refined elegance.
The removable top is particularly eye-catching with its three skilfully intertwined arms, which have a graceful structure. This special feature makes it possible to use the candelabra in its full splendour as a three-flame chandelier or in a reduced form as a single chandelier. Each arm ends in a bell-shaped candle spout which, together with the base and the spouts, is decorated with finely applied garlands. These intricate details bear witness to the skilful craftsmanship that can be felt in every millimetre of the silver.
This magnificent piece is not just a chandelier, but a tribute to the era from which it originates. Despite its age, the chandelier is in excellent condition with only a few signs of wear, which emphasises its quality and the care with which it has been looked after over the years.
