Plates for keeping food warm have been an integral part of every table for centuries. It consists of a solid aluminum plate on which the food containers are placed. The plate is then evenly heated by the flame from the burner. For cleaning, the plate is removable.
This nice hotplate comes from England. It has a rectangular shape and four slightly curved feet. The two opposite handles are made of ebony wood. Manufacturer unknown. Early 20th century.
