Antique letter clip in 800/- silver
Founded in 1895 by Franz Bahner in Düsseldorf (Germany), the company was one of the most productive manufacturers of Art Nouveau cutlery. After Franz Bahner's death (1913), his heirs converted the manufactory into a joint-stock company until the company was acquired by the Mansfelder Gewerkschaft in 1917. The new owner changed the maker's mark to two crossed hammers with the letters "M" and "S" (for Mansfelder Silber). The Mansfelder Gewerkschaft was dissolved in 1962.
Exclusive letter clip in silver in the neo baroque style. Two elements with adjustable hinge and curved edges and elaborate openwork with geometric patterns, rocailles and scallops. An unengraved cartouche in the centre. Marked with an unknown master's mark and the Franz Bahner mark circa 1917. Condition very good with patina. Absolutely collectible!
