Arts & Crafts was founded in England in the mid-19th century by a group of artists. As the name suggests, Arts and Crafts was intended to unite art and craft. The Arts & Crafts movement thus struck a chord with the times and provided decisive impulses for other movements such as Art Nouveau or Art Nouveau and the Viennese Secession up to Bauhaus.
Extraordinary porringer in sterling silver 925/- from the Arts & Crafts movement in England from 1911. The body is made with a driving hammer in the so-called Martelè technique. Partial hemispherical decorations on the upper rim. Attached, wide curved, elegantly shaped handles of bent rods. Made in 1911 in Birmingham/England by Alfred E. Jones. Excellent condition. Museum and collectible.
