In the golden age of Art Nouveau, when elaborate sweeps and filigree motifs were at their peak, a pendant was created in the creative hands of Niels Erik From, the famous jewellery designer from Nakskov/Denmark, that has stood the test of time and is today a symbol of excellence and aesthetics.
In 1931, Niels Erik From ushered in an era of design and craftsmanship with the opening of his shop, which found its creative origin in the N.E. From silversmithy, founded in 1944 in Nakskov. From this period of transition from floral designs to modernist design language, around the years 1920/30, comes this charming pendant.
The centrepiece of this work of art is an opaque hemispherical rose quartz cabochon whose delicate pink hue contrasts and beautifully balances the coolness of the silver. This gemstone is framed by a circular openwork setting carefully decorated with Margaret flowers and leaves in relief. The attention to detail with which From conceived this design is reflected in each individual blossom and leaf.
The pendant is accompanied by a silver chain whose simplicity draws the main attention to the pendant, while it itself is refined by abstract leaf motifs.
Every glance at the piece of jewellery reveals something new: a detail not yet noticed, another shade of rose quartz or another reflection in the silver. It is a testimony to From's ability to transform emotions into metal and stone.
The jewel not only bears the mark of the famous Danish designer, but also the story of his time, his vision and his dedication to art. The pendant is in very good condition, with the patina highlighting the history and age of the jewel and adding character.
