Beautiful antique earrings from the 19th century in gold and silver. The round body consists of abstract acanthus leaves and curled tendrils with attached movable spheres. In the centre is a cut onyx. The back with original brisures. The earrings were made in foam gold. This technique refers to gold and silver sheets pressed into shape and chased, which were soldered together. The cavity in between was often filled with putty to accommodate the deformation of the delicate elements. A delicate and rare piece of jewellery! Made around 1840 (Biedermeier). Unmarked, maker unknown. Condition very good.
