Lid box in 12 lot (750 / -) silver
Lot was a unit of measurement used in the Middle Ages and into the 19th century to determine the fineness of a precious metal - primarily silver - in relation to its total mass. Antique silver is therefore often stamped with a hallmark with the numbers 12, 13, 14 or 15.
Rectangular box in 12-solder silver from the Baroque around 1700/20. Elaborate diamond pattern on the hinged lid and the bulging walls. Lid clasp decorated with rocailles. Floor mark with HE, 12 (Lot) and IHE. Brand unknown, but the pattern is typically southern German in the Baroque era. Fire-gilded inside. Condition very good, worth collecting!
