Antique lavalier necklace in min 800/silver
A lavalier or lavalliere is a piece of jewellery consisting of a pendant firmly attached to a necklace, sometimes set with a stone, from which smaller decorative elements usually hang. The style was popularised by the Duchesse de la Vallière, a mistress of King Louis XIV of France.
Beautiful necklace in the shape of a lavalier. A round faceted amethyst forms the central element of the jewel. From this hangs rod-shaped elements in a floral shape, decorated with marcasites and finished with movable elements in which pearls have been set. Necklace with spring ring clasp. Early 20th century, marked with an illegible French master's mark. Tested for min. silver 800/-.
