Antique brooch in 800/- silver and amethyst
Albert Kahlbrandt, goldsmith, engraver, chaser (*25.11.1878 + 7.3.1961). 1893 - 1896: Apprenticeship as an engraver in Kiel, lessons at the State Academy of Drawing in Hanau and at the Hamburg School of Applied Arts; years of travel in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Paris, Geneva. 1937: Gold medal at the Paris World's Fair, silver medal at the Milan Triennale. Large brooch with a natural Madagascar amethyst cabochon handmade. Oval shape with a wide openwork frame in silver. Centrally an oval amethyst in a dimple setting surrounded by a beaded rim. On the back with pin catch and MZ Albert Kahlbrandt. Made around 1915- 20. Condition very good with natural patina.
