This antique amphora vase from the Carl Thieme Saxon porcelain factory in Potschappel is a magnificent example of skilful craftsmanship and timeless elegance. The vase is characterised by its majestic shape with a goblet-shaped body, curled handles and the characteristic decoration with rams' heads, which combines powerful symbolism and fine aesthetics. The square plinth and the ascending shaft lend the vase a classic stability, while the slightly protruding, moulded mouth forms a harmonious finish.
The rich gilding and the detailed, polychrome flower painting, some of which sits enthroned on a yellow background, are particularly fascinating and give the piece a warm, lively appearance. Every detail of this vase, from the intricate floral patterns to the finely crafted rams' heads, testifies to master craftsmanship and artistic finesse.
Although the vase has slight imperfections, including a barely visible, newly applied horn, its overall condition is excellent. This restoration does not detract from the beauty or historical value of this unique piece. The amphora vase not only epitomises the luxurious style of the early 20th century, but also the rich tradition of Saxon porcelain art. A true collector's item that exudes a sublime presence and charming historical character in any setting.
