Arts & Crafts was brought to life by a group of artists in the mid-19th century. Arts and Crafts, as the name suggests, should combine arts and crafts, an idea that also plays a big role in today's DIY movement. In the 19th century, industrialization was in full swing: for the first time in history, numerous products were no longer manufactured by hand, but by machines and industrially. Arts & Crafts, on the other hand, propagated a return to handicrafts and handcrafted products. The Arts & Crafts movement hit a nerve of the times and gave decisive impulses for other movements such as Art Nouveau or Art Nouveau and the Vienna Secession to Bauhaus and today's DIY movement.
