The term historicism refers to a phenomenon that was widespread in the 19th century and still had an aftereffect in the 20th century, in which - in architecture, art and handicrafts - older styles were used and either imitated or freely combined.

Magnificent spoon set for coffee or mocha from the period of historicism. The set consists of 12 small spoons. The bowls of the small spoons are drop-shaped and gilded. Richly decorated handles with twisted elements, lavishly shaped ends with the representation of the goddess Diana, spheres and acanthus. A subtle monogram on the back. Made in Germany, around 1880.
