Modern jewellery: conceptual and minimalist. Good design under Bauhaus influence, from the era of modernism and the avant-garde is timeless, uncomplicated and elegant at the same time. In the interwar period, the Bauhaus in Weimar and Burg Giebichenstein in Halle in particular determined the general renewal in arts and crafts. The turning away from jewellery was also a reaction to the catastrophic economic conditions after the First World War.
Beautiful silver bangle with an interesting irregular geometric design. The surface of the bangle was partly hammered with silver wire rods and blackened in the finish. A square cut amethyst cabochon has been set in the centre. Unknown maker, probably the Giebichenstein School of Art in Halle in the 1930s. Condition very good.
