The ring cross, or Celtic cross, is the oldest symbol of the Celtic empire and is also known from Sweden, where it can be found on Gotland as a triumphal cross and otherwise as a midsummer cross. The ginkgo has long been revered as energizing and extending life. The Chinese and Japanese have worshiped the ginkgo as sacred for centuries because of its vitality and miraculous promises, and asked their wishes under it.
Exceptionally rare representation of a Celtic cross, or midsummer cross in silver from Scandinavia. The ends were shaped into ginkgo leaves, with pink calcite framed in the center of the frame. On the back, the brooch was formed into a Celtic knot. Manufacturer unknown, probably around 1930 in Scandinavia. Condition: very good.
